What are the small white specks in your Canned Feasts?Updated 4 months ago
The white/yellow specks you may have noticed in our Canned Feasts recently are completely normal. They’re simply small bits of fat that have become separated during heating in the canning process. Our Canned Feasts are free from any gels or binding agents whatsoever, just fresh New Zealand water, which means you’re more likely to notice our nutritious whole-food ingredients. The fat can appear white or yellow depending on the animal’s diet. The colour of fat is heavily influenced by the feeding regime and specifically the intake of beta-carotene in the animals' diet. Pasture-fed animals may produce a yellowish or creamy coloured fat.
We acknowledge that our diets are higher in both protein and fats than many kibble-type foods, however, rest assured this inclusion is entirely from animal sources, is considered "healthy," and positively contributes to your pet's nutrition. High protein diets are better for weight management, keeping your pet fuller for longer.
